Position the pan against the engine block, install the bolts finger tight, and then tighten them in the correct sequence, replacing the alignment studs with pan bolts. Complete the remaining steps in reverse order, remembering to add engine oil and install a new oil filler. Start the engine and check for oil leaks at the oil pan, then drive the vehicle and check again.

Q: How to remove and install an oil pan in V6 engine on Ford Bronco?
A:
Loosen the nut of the cable connected to the negative terminal of the battery, and thereafter, remove the air cleaner assembly. After that it will be necessary to remove bolts connecting the fan shroud and the radiator, then place the shroud over the fan. Taking out the engine oil dipstick and then finding a safe and secure way to lift the vehicle so that it will be comfortable to work on it by placing jack stands. Move on to the struts and take off the oil filter while also taking off the exhaust pipes from the exhausts manifolds. The exhaust pipe clamped on the catalytic converter pipe should be unbolted and the inlet pipe taken out of the vehicle. In the process, if applicable, remove the transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Loosen the nuts that hold the engine mounts to the chassis brackets and then use a jack put a wooden block on the jack pad to lift the engine, when setting down, place the wooden blocks between the engine mounts and the chassis brackets and remove the jack. Lose the oil pan attaching bolts and lower the oil pan; the oil pick-up tube assembly should be unbolted and remain in the pan prior to the removal of the pan from the vehicle. Oil pan, sealing surfaces,-clean and check for damage and distortion as required, repair. To ensure the correct fitment of the pan to the cylinder block, Trial fit the pan to the cylinder block and if there is any excess material which has to be scraped off to create some sort of a clearance for installation, then do it on this side of the sealant. Move the oil pan down to sit on the frame cross-member and install the oil pick-up tube assembly complete with new gasket at this time the support bracket has to go on the stud of the no. 2 main bearing cap attaching bolt. Torque pick-up tube assembly nuts and bolts to the required measure. Fix a new rear pan seal in the groove of the rear main cap and this requires the use of a small screwdriver. Place RTV an 1/8 inch thick along the juncture of the timing cover and the cylinder block at both ends of the rear seal, and along the cylinder block oil pan rails, but use 1/4 inch thickness where it makes contact with the timing cover. Place the oil pan at the lower part of the engine and screw in the bolts to a specified torque value. Lastly, lift the engine and get rid of the wood blocks, all the remaining process of installation are the reversing process of that of removal.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the oil dipstick, drain the engine oil, and remove the oil filter. Raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands, then remove the crossmember bolts and the crossmember. Take out the engine mount through-bolts and raise the engine about two inches with an engine hoist properly attached to the lifting brackets, avoiding the use of a jack under the oil pan to prevent damage. Remove the oil pan-to-transmission bolts and the oil pan-to-engine bolts, then take off the oil pan, breaking the seal if necessary with a thin putty knife while ensuring not to gouge the sealing edge. Empty any residual oil from the pan and clean it with solvent.
