    How do I check the ring end gaps before installing new Piston rings for the 2004 Ford F-150? Posted by Ramon H.

    Lay out the piston/connecting rod assemblies and the new ring sets. Insert the top (number one) ring into the first cylinder and square it up with the cylinder walls using the piston.     Clean the back side of the new upper bearing insert, lay it in place in the connecting rod, ensuring the bearing tab fits into the recess in the rod.
