Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter. Support the engine from above with a support fixture. Remove the timing chain cover. Remove the air conditioning compressor fasteners and tie the compressor out of the way without disconnecting the compressor lines, noting that there is an air conditioning line bracket mounting nut just below the alternator that must be removed before moving the compressor. Remove the
Oil Pan and the oil pump pick-up tube, discarding the O-ring seal. Use a screwdriver to pry the end of the oil pump drive chain tensioner's spring from under the shouldered bolt, then remove the two bolts and the tensioner. Remove the chain from the oil pump sprocket, holding the oil pump drive sprocket with a suitable tool to remove the sprocket bolt, then take off the sprocket. Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and then the pump. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to replace all gaskets with new ones, tighten the oil pump mounting bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the specified torque, install a new oil filter after the oil pan is in place, and refill the crankcase with oil. Finally, check for any oil warning lights in the instrument panel after starting and idling the vehicle.
