    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in V8 engine on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is supplied only as an assembly with no service components or repair information from the manufacturer. Before removing the oil pump, one has to lift the car using a jack and put it on two stands, and then change the engine oil. The instructions in the present work are developed to be applicable for all models except 5.0L: the oil pan should be removed, and the two bolts that fix the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump should be separated. After that, take off the timing chain cover, the timing chains, the chain guides and the crankshaft sprocket. Remove the oil pump mounting fastener and remove the pump from the engine block, on 5.0L and 6.2L models the oil pump is secured with four bolts and two stud bolts. Check the O-ring gasket at he pick-up tube end and replace it if worn out. Replace the oil pump back on the engine and make sure that the bolts are correctly and tightly tightened. Before installing, crank the oil pump submerged in clean oil into the pick-up port and turn the oil pump by hands. Reversing the procedures mentioned above to complete the installation and then add the correct type and amount of oil in the engine, operate the engine to check if there is any leakage.

    Q:
How to remove and inspect the oil pump and its components in 4.2L V6 engine on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil filter, then take off the oil pump cover and O-ring, followed by the gears from the cavity in the timing chain cover, discarding the O-ring. Clean and inspect the oil pump cavity; if the oil pump gear pocket in the timing chain cover is damaged or worn, replace the timing chain cover. Eliminate all traces of gasket material from the oil pump cover. To remove the pressure relief valve, first detach the timing chain cover from the engine, drill a hole in the plug, and pry it out or use a slide hammer and screw adapter. Remove the spring and valve from the bore, ensuring all metal chips are cleared and checking for wear, score marks, and galling; if the bore is worn or damaged, a new timing chain cover is necessary, and the valve should fit without noticeable side play or binding. If the spring is fatigued or collapsed, replace it. Apply clean engine oil to the valve and install it in the bore, small end first, followed by the spring and a new plug, tapping it in until it's 0.010-inch below the machined surface of the cover. Install the intermediate shaft and the camshaft position sensor. The oil pump pickup tube is located inside the oil pan, so remove the oil pan for access, then detach the pickup tube nut and two mounting bolts, replacing the gasket at the front during reinstallation. Installation is the reverse of removal; fill the oil pump with clean engine oil before installation, use a new cover O-ring lubricated with clean oil, and tighten the bolts to the specified torque, ensuring the mounting bolts for the pickup tube are securely fastened.

    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the oil pump in 3.5L and 3.7L V6 engine on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
Drain the oil and remove the oil filter, then take off the engine front cover and the oil pan. Next, remove the primary timing chain and slide the crankshaft sprocket from the crankshaft. After that, remove the three fasteners along with the oil pump pickup and screen assembly, followed by the three oil pump mounting bolts to take out the oil pump. Installation is the reverse of removal; after bolting the oil pump in place, reinstall the oil pump pickup tube and screen with a new O-ring.

    Q:
Is the oil pump available as a complete replacement unit only, and How to its remove and install on Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
In this design, the oil pump is a complete unit that cannot be serviced or repaired and no spare parts or repair procedures are offered by the manufacturer. To demould the oil pump, it requires dismantling the oil pan and, in addition, two bolts holding the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump. Third, take off the timing chain cover, timing chains, chain guides and crankshaft sprocket. That is followed by the removal of the oil pump mounting bolts and the removal of the pump from the engine block. For instance, in installation, one should check the condition of the O-ring gasket of the pick-up tube, and replace if necessary. Mount the oil pump on the engine and secure it with the appropriate bolts to the tightness required and with the primer oil the oil pick up port the oil pump should be rotated manually. The final steps on the installation process are the exact opposite of the removal process of Mutual TLS. Last but not the least, add the recommended grade of oil and the needed volume, switch on the engine and look for any sign of leakage.

    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in four cylinder engine on Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter. Support the engine from above with a support fixture. Remove the timing chain cover. Remove the air conditioning compressor fasteners and tie the compressor out of the way without disconnecting the compressor lines, noting that there is an air conditioning line bracket mounting nut just below the alternator that must be removed before moving the compressor. Remove the oil pan and the oil pump pick-up tube, discarding the O-ring seal. Use a screwdriver to pry the end of the oil pump drive chain tensioner's spring from under the shouldered bolt, then remove the two bolts and the tensioner. Remove the chain from the oil pump sprocket, holding the oil pump drive sprocket with a suitable tool to remove the sprocket bolt, then take off the sprocket. Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and then the pump. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to replace all gaskets with new ones, tighten the oil pump mounting bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the specified torque, install a new oil filter after the oil pan is in place, and refill the crankcase with oil. Finally, check for any oil warning lights in the instrument panel after starting and idling the vehicle.

    A:

Take out the oil pick-up tube by unthreading two mounting bolts. Lift the end of the spring from the bolt with a flathead screwdriver. Remove the two screws and the tensioner. Hold the oil pump drive sprocket with a tool. Remove the sprocket bolt before pulling out the chain from around the oil pump sprocket. Loosen then take out the oil pump mounting bolts. After that, remove the pump itself. To reinstall, all new gaskets go back on; tighten the oil pump bolts to their required torque; install a fresh oil filter when you put the oil pan back; refill the oil crankcase; and make sure all connections are tightened. Make sure to look for engine oil warning lights in the dashboard display after you turn on the vehicle and let it run for a bit.
