Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then remove the drivebelt. Securely block the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling, jack up the front, and place it securely on jackstands, ensuring not to get under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Remove the splash shield from the passenger's side, followed by the crankshaft damper and
Timing Belt. Next, take out the timing belt pulley and guide from the crankshaft. Using a suitable hooked tool, pry out the oil seal from the oil pump housing. Apply a coat of light engine oil to the lip of the new seal and press it into position using a seal replacer tool, or tap it into place with a socket that has an outside diameter slightly smaller than that of the seal. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of the removal steps.
