Ford F8AZ-9424-CB Manifold Assembly - Inlet

After completing the installation, you should reassemble the components and check for oil and coolant leaks at the intake manifold joints after starting the engine.

Remove the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing bolts also retain the intake manifold.

The electrical and vacuum connectors need to be disconnected from the coolant temperature sending unit, air charge temperature sensor, throttle positioner, idle speed control solenoid, EGA sensors, fuel injectors, and fuel charging assembly.

Relieve fuel pressure, remove the air intake plenum assembly on 5.0L engines or the air intake assembly on 4.6L engines, and remove the fuel rail assembly. Detach the electrical connectors from the injectors, remove the injectors, inspect and replace injector O-rings and other components as needed. Lubricate new O-rings with oil before installation and twist to install the injectors. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal.

Remove the PCV and canister purge hoses.

Start by relieving fuel pressure, disconnecting the battery cable, and removing the air intake plenum assembly on 5.0L engines or the air intake assembly on 4.6L engines. Use a special spring lock coupling tool to disconnect the fuel feed and return lines from the fuel rail assembly. Remove the four fuel rail assembly retaining bolts and carefully disengage the fuel rail from the fuel injectors. The installation process is the reverse of removal.

Lift the lower intake manifold from the cylinder heads and remove it from the engine.

Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control linkage, and automatic transmission cable. Remove the accelerator cable bracket.
