When reattaching the intermediate cable, ensure that the left rear cable is on top and attached to the forward end of the cable connector, while the right rear cable should be under the left rear cable and attached to the rear end of the connector.

To replace the front cable, raise and support the vehicle on jackstands, release the parking brake, and loosen the adjusting nut at the adjuster. Disconnect the cable from the adjuster bracket and remove the retaining clip from the body. From inside the vehicle, disconnect the cable from the pedal assembly and remove it through the floorpan. To install, insert the cable through the floorpan holes and attach it to the control assembly inside the vehicle, ensuring the grommet is properly seated. Underneath the vehicle, fasten the cable to the adjuster bracket.

For the intermediate and rear cables on 1990 and later models, ensure the parking brake is released, raise the rear of the vehicle, support it on jackstands, disconnect the rear cable (following specific procedures based on brake type), disconnect the left rear cable from the intermediate cable, and disconnect the right rear cable from the intermediate cable.
