- A:Remove the axleshaft as described in the preceding. Pry the old oil seal out of the end of the axle housing, using a seal removal tool or the inner end of the axleshaft itself as a lever. Use a seal removal tool to remove the old seal from the axle housing. Using a seal driver or a large socket, tap the seal into position so that the lips are facing in and the metal face is visible from the end of the axle housing. Use a seal driver to install the new axleshaft oil seal. When correctly installed, the face of the oil seal should be flush with the end of the axle housing. Lubricate the lips of the seal with gear oil. Install the axleshaft.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
