Remove the front
Bumper cover. To take off the manufacturer nameplate, unscrew the two nuts securing it to the radiator grille and pull it off. For the upper or lower radiator grille, unscrew the grille mounting nuts and screws, noting that the lower grille is also held with plastic push-pin type rivets. To detach the radiator grille reinforcement, disengage the mounting tabs from the bumper cover. For the MKX, remove the two upper and two center radiator grille nuts, then take off the badge by unscrewing the two badge nuts. Next, remove the upper and center radiator grilles from the grille reinforcement, followed by the reinforcement itself. Detach the seven lower radiator grille molding clips and then the lower radiator grille, along with its molding. Unscrew the front bumper cover valance screws and remove the valance cover. For models from 2012 and later, unscrew the grille shutter assembly mounting bolts from each corner. On 2015 and later models, depress the two release clips at the top of the radiator support before removing the grille shutter assembly. Lower the assembly to expose the grille shutter actuator connector, disconnect it, and remove the shutter assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal for all components.
