Ford Edge Hood Cable

The Ford Edge Hood Cable helps you pop the hood fast for service and helps eliminate a stuck latch. This thin steel wire, encased in plastic, connects the cabin release handle to a junction block and then splits so that a single tug unlatches both latches in one motion. The early Edge years as well as the refreshed models all depended on a similar pull and release method. Some received a one-piece continuous Hood Cable while others applied a primary lead joined to two shorter secondary strands which helped routing past the new crash safety structures. Early detection of damage is possible with frequent visual checks of the Ford Edge Hood Cable routing. Each Hood Cable, regardless of style, must remain flexible and sealed. Otherwise, cracked outer jackets allow water in which corrodes strands and stretches tension until the hood no longer opens. When that symptom occurs, replacing it with a new Ford specified Hood Cable restores smooth operation and maintains easy access for regular checks in every modern Ford Edge for convenient maintenance.

We provide a wide range of Ford Edge Hood Cable at the optimal prices. If you need Ford Edge Hood Cable, you can shop with confidence on our website. All our OEM parts come with a manufacturer's warranty and are delivered to your doorstep with a fast delivery service.

Ford Edge Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install and remove the hood cable and hood latch on the Ford Edge?
    A:
To fit the hood latch, one has to reverse the observed procedure of fitting the grille shutter by making a note of the fact that the active grille shutter has to be removed where the model is 2015 and above. Draw a pencil line around the latch for alignment purpose and then unbolt the retaining bolts that hold the hood latch to the radiator support and pull out the latch. After that, it is necessary to put the pressure on the cable retainer to free it from the latch assembly and to detach the cable end plug. For the release cable, it is up in the engine compartment that is where you have to get rid of the hood latch and also free the hood release cable from the latch. Remove the two release cable clips from the radiator support, undo the left front wheellug nuts, safely jack up the car on jack stands and remove the wheel, also take off the inner fender splash shield. Pull free the two latches on the top of the fender opening to release the cable from its clips and to release the cable clip from the wiring harness though on some models it may be required to remove the Smart Junction Box. Last but not least, it is necessary to remove the two hood release handle mounting bolts, to take out the hood release handle, to disconnect the release cable from the release handle and to pull the cable through the fire wall.
