A: In order to remove and install front output shaft, seal and yoke, firstly lift up the vehicle securely. If so, remove the skid plate from the frame, as well as the damper from the transfer case. Put a pan beneath the transfer case, take out the drain bolt, and let the fluid to drain. Engage the front driveshaft to the transfer case yoke, and connect it to the transaxle yoke, separate the front driveshaft, hook it and tuck it aside. For the Borg-Warner model 13-54 start by using a 30mm thin-wall socket to take off the rear output shaft yoke retaining nut, washer, rubber seal and the yoke. Pull out the front output shaft seal by means of an impact slide hammer or an appropriate substitute. For installation: The output housing bore must be free from contamination Clean the seal lip and apply premium grade long-life grease on the same. Place the new seal into the position where it will be located in the output housing and drive it until it is flush using the correct driver. For the Borg-Warner model 13-54: Place the front output shaft yoke, the rubber seal, and the washer; tighten the output shaft yoke retaining nut to 250/280 ft lbs. Secure the front driveshaft to the transfer case, replace the damper if it was removed, fill with the correct amount of Dexron/Mercorr automatic transmission fluid through the oil fill plug, and replace the skid plate if was removed. Last of all, lower the car and go for driving to ensure that there is no leakage on the floor.
