    Q:
What is the purpose and location of the HVAC Pressure Switch in A/C systems on Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
This switch is used only on 2008 and earlier models with accumulators. Later models with receiver/driers don't use a pressure cycling switch. The pressure cycling switch is located on top of the accumulator and detects low refrigerant line pressure at 22 to 28 psi. It switches the A/C system off and then back on again at 40 to 47 psi. If the pressure increases over 550 psi, the pressure cut-off switch shuts the system off. To replace the pressure cycling switch, unplug the electrical connector, unscrew the switch from the accumulator, lubricate the switch o-ring with clean refrigerant oil, screw the new switch onto the accumulator threads until hand tight, and then tighten it securely. Finally, reconnect the electrical connector.

    Q:
How to remove and replace the HVAC Pressure Switch in the air conditioning system on Ford Excursion? Posted by Customer
    A:
In the accumulator of a Schrader valve, the refrigerant will not be leaked when changing the HVAC Pressure Switch. First, remove the electrical connector from the HVAC Pressure Switch. Afterwards, remove the HVAC Pressure Switch from the accumulator by unscrewing it. Just before you install the new switch, make sure to lubricate its O-ring with clean refrigerant oil appropriate for it. Screw on this new switch until tight by hand to the threads of an accumulator and then tighten it to its torque. Lastly, reconnect an electrical connector.

    Q:
How can the A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches and HVAC Pressure Switch be replaced on the Mercury Mountaineer? Posted by Customer
    A:
The pressure cycling switch, detecting low refrigerant line pressure at 21-27 psi, turns the A/C compressor off and on again at 42 psi. If pressure exceeds 455-495 psi, the high-pressure cut-off switch near the compressor turns it off. To replace, disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the switch from the Schrader valve. No need to discharge the A/C system. Lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil, screw the new switch until hand tight, then secure it. Reconnect the electrical connector.

    Q:
Where is the pressure cycling switch located for the 2012 Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
The pressure cycling switch is located on top of the hard line from the condenser to the air conditioning thermostatic expansion valve (TXV).

    Q:
How do you remove the electrical connector from the switch for the 2008 Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
Unplug the electrical connector from the switch by disconnecting the air conditioning pressure cycling switch connector, then remove it with an open-end wrench from the fitting on the accumulator. The air conditioning high-pressure cut-off switch is removed in the same way as the pressure cycling switch, as it is mounted to a high-pressure A/C line.
