    First of all, there is a need to regularly check rubber and plastic hoses in the engine, accessory, and emission systems for cracks, loose clamps, hardening, and leaks. The PCV system hose should be checked for damage or blockages. Vacuum hoses may be color-coded or striped. Use a vacuum hose as a stethoscope to detect leaks. Replace any damaged fuel lines with ones made specifically for use in fuel injection systems. Metal fuel lines must also be inspected for bends, crimps, and cracks. Metal brake lines should be scrutinized closely for cracks, loose fittings, and brake fluid leakage.
