- Q:How do you remove the rear spring for the 1989 Ford F-250? Posted by Customer
- A:To remove the rear spring, raise the vehicle until the weight is off the spring but the tire is still touching the ground. Securely place the frame on jackstands. Remove the nuts from the U-bolts and drive the U-bolts from the U-bolt plate. If applicable, remove the auxiliary spring and spacer, as well as the ride height spacer on 4WD models. Remove the spring-to-bracket nut and drive the bolt out of the spring eye bushing. Remove the spring shackle bolt, holding the nut on the other side with a back-up wrench. Take out the spring and shackle assembly from the rear shackle bracket, and then remove the spring from under the vehicle. If the spring eye bushings are worn or damaged, they must be replaced by an automotive repair shop.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
