    Q:
How to remove and install the crankshaft pulley and Crankshaft Seal in V6 engine on Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
To disassemble components, first release the clip on battery terminal and pull the cable. Put the drift between the wheel and the car and; loosen the right front wheel lug nuts. Next, safely raise the front part of the car using the jack and place jackstands before removing the wheel. Then remove fender splash shield and the drive belt should be removed as well. Loosen the driveplate access cover and use a large screwdriver to secure the ring gear teeth not to turn the crankshaft using pray bar. Subsequently, remove the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt. For models that are 2008 and below, a bolt-type should be used to pull out the pulley and other types of puller should not be used as this will cause a lot of damage. In the models of the year 2009 and later, a puller with three hooks must be used. Then, using a seal puller, the seal has to be removed from the engine front cover; the proper orientation of the sealing lip must be observed when the new seal is being installed. During installation check the pulley area and front cover, and seal surfaces for signs of wear and tear and repair as needed. I submerged the new seal in clean engine oil and fitted it in the engine front cover with the lip facing inwards. These then are the methods to apply if a seal driver is not available, simply tap the seal gently into position with a large socket and hammer until it is level with the front cover surface. Insert the fixed pulley into the keyway with the inner bore and the keyway of the fixed pulley rubbed evenly with RTV sealant With the outer sealing surface of the fixed pulley lubricated with clean engine oil, align the keyway in the pulley with that in the crankshaft ; When fitting, the fixed pulley can be fitted by use of suitable installation tool or by attachment of a soft-faced mallet. Finalize the thrust washer and then fasten the retainer bolt to the recommended torr ue. To assemble the wheels the remaining parts should be installed in reverse order tightening the wheel lug nuts to the correct torque. Reconnect the battery then start the engine and lastly look out for any oil leaks. The PCM has to take new learns with respect to idle and fuel trim to provide the desired driveability and power performance.

    Q:
How to remove and install Crankshaft Pulley in four cylinder engine on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
For the removal procedure, several special tools are required for the timing procedure, including the camshaft positioning tool 303-465 for 2.3L and 2.5L models or 303-1565 for 2.0L models, along with the timing pin (303-507), camshaft positioning tool 303-1552 for 1.5L and 1.6L models, variable camshaft sprocket timing (VCT) locking tool 303-1097 for 1.5L and 1.6L models, crankshaft pulley alignment tool 303-1550 for 1.5L and 1.6L models, flywheel locking tools 303-393A and 303-393-02 for 1.5L and 1.6L models, and timing pin 303-748 for 1.5L and 1.6L models. Only rotate the crankshaft in the clockwise direction. Begin by removing the drivebelt and drivebelt tensioner, followed by the timing belt cover. Remove the starter motor and rotate the crankshaft until the camshaft phaser timing marks are at the 11 o'clock position. Remove the TDC timing hole plug and insert the timing pin. For 1.6L engines, the TDC timing hole is covered by the passenger's side driveaxle intermediate shaft support bearing bracket, which requires removal of the driveaxle intermediate shaft and support bearing bracket. Slowly rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the crankshaft balance weight contacts the timing pin, indicating TDC. Assemble the flywheel locking tools and install them securely using the starter mounting bolts. Caution is advised to prevent engine damage when removing the crankshaft pulley bolt and pulley, and always replace the crankshaft pulley bolt with a new one during installation. For 2.0L, 2.3L, and 2.5L engines, remove the drivebelt, and for 2.3L engines with an automatic transaxle, remove the two bolts from the right driveaxle intermediate shaft bracket. Set the engine to TDC using the camshaft and crankshaft locking tools, ensuring the crankshaft is held to prevent rotation while unscrewing the pulley bolt. Use a special tool to hold the crankshaft pulley in place, and remove the pulley and any necessary washers. For installation on 1.5L and 1.6L engines, rotate the VCT sprockets until the timing marks are at the 12 o'clock position, then install the camshaft positioning tool and VCT locking tool. Remove the crankshaft position sensor and install the crankshaft pulley alignment tool, followed by the crankshaft pulley and new bolt. Tighten the bolt and remove the alignment tools. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise for 1-3/4 turns, reinstall the timing pin, and ensure the VCT sprocket timing marks are at the 12 o'clock position. For 2.0L, 2.3L, and 2.5L engines, install a new diamond washer onto the crankshaft, coat the crankshaft front seal with clean engine oil, and install the crankshaft pulley. Hand-tighten the new crankshaft pulley bolt and washer, then install a crankshaft pulley alignment bolt. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt and remove the holding tool and alignment bolt. For the 2.0L engine, install the CKP sensor alignment tool, hand-tighten a new crankshaft pulley bolt and washer, and remove the tool. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt in stages using a strap wrench. For all models except 1.5L and 1.6L, remove the timing pin and camshaft alignment tool, then rotate the engine clockwise two complete revolutions and achieve TDC. Install the timing pin into the cylinder block, and for 2.3L and 2.5L engines, install the crankshaft pulley alignment bolt, ensuring correct alignment. The correct engine timing is confirmed when the camshaft alignment tool, timing pin, and crankshaft pulley alignment bolt can be placed simultaneously. Finally, remove all alignment tools and bolts, install the timing pin plug, and reinstall all previously removed components.

    Q:
How to remove and install the crankshaft pulley in four cylinder engine on Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer
    A:
To disassemble it, one has to first retrieve the drive belt to expose the crankshaft pulley from the 2.0L engine. If the pulley is incorporated in another process like the timing belt change procedure fix the engine at TDC before removing the crankshaft bolt for pulley removal While loosening the bolt to remove the crankshaft pulley do not use the timing pin to lock the crankshaft as it may shear off. To avoid turning of the crankshaft during the process of loosening of the pulley bolt, pull it to a halt in this manner; If you are using a chain wrench ensure that it has some protective covering, or else you can lock the flywheel using a screwdriver. Following the removal of pulley bolt, take off the pulley. For installation, reverse the above procedures and arrange the pulley keyway on the crankshaft with the locating key and tighten the pulley bolt to the recommended torque. For the 2.3L and 2.5L engines, the timing belt will come off as soon as the crankshaft pulley is loosened; thus, use the following instructions when assembling to prevent serious damage. First eliminate the cooling fan and shroud, auxiliary drive belt, and the valve cover; position the engine to the TDC. Make sure that the camshaft alignment plate and crankshaft alignment bolt are fitted right. There is a particular tool for holding the crankshaft pulley to prevent damage when trying to loosen the pulley bolt. Before tightening the new crankshaft pulley, give the crankshaft front seal a light coating of oil after you have taken out the pulley. Tighten a new pulley bolt by hand and place it near the timing chain cover, fasten a crankshaft pulley alignment bolt just in case to provide proper alignment. Screw the pulley bolt to the said torque and then take out the holding tool as well as the alignment bolt. Place the engine at the 'T' mark and provide 2 full clockwise revolutions before setting the engine at the 'T' mark and installing the timing pin. In case of any doubt reposition the crankshaft pulley and ensure that you use the camshaft tool to determine the correct position of the camshaft so that other tools can be placed correctly for timing. Last but not the least; unbolt all the timing pin and tools, fix the timing pin plug back and just reverse the process you have just done.
