Ford F5TZ-6675-B Engine Oil Pan Assembly

Place a straightedge across the transmission mounting surface on the engine block and one of the mounting pads for the oil pan-to-transmission bolts. Measure the gap between the mounting pad and straightedge with a feeler gauge. Move the straightedge to the other mounting pad and measure its gap.

Do not pry between the reinforcement section and the block on any gasket sealing surface.

Carefully position the pan against the block and install the bolts finger tight. Ensure the gasket hasn't shifted, then tighten the bolts in three steps to the torque, starting at the center of the pan and working out toward the ends in a spiral pattern. Note that the four larger bolts (two at each end) have a different torque specification than the remaining bolts.

Retighten the oil pan-to-transmission bolts to the torque.

After removing the engine, you should remove the lower oil pan fasteners and then remove the sheet metal oil pan.

The engine must be removed from the vehicle to remove the reinforcement section for access to the oil pump and crankshaft.

The oil pan is a tight fit between the transmission spacer plate and the oil pump pick-up tube. Be careful not to damage the pick-up tube when removing the pan.

Install the engine.

Position the gasket inside the channel of the oil pan.

Remove the passenger side axle beam. Caution: Be sure to remove the brake caliper and tie it up out of the way.
