    Disconnect various components such as the mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, vacuum hoses, accelerator and cruise control cables, exhaust gas recirculation (EGA) valve, spark plug wires, wiring harness, ignition coil pack, and powertrain control module (PCM) harness. Remove the six bolts securing the intake manifold and lift it off the cylinder heads.

    Remove the intake manifold. It may be necessary to pry between the manifold and block, using the water pump lug as a fulcrum. Use care to avoid damaging the machined surfaces. Do not pry between the gasket surfaces or leaks will develop. The fuel rails and injectors may remain in place. Lift the manifold out of the engine compartment.
