Before removing the power steering pump there is need to disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Put a drain pan under the power steering pump and, if you are using a rack-and-pinion steering system, take off the drivebelt. Employing the special power steering pump pulley remover, remove the pulley from the pump. Then, release the pressure and drain hoses at the rear of the pump, and cover the hoses to avoid spewing of contaminants inside. Remove the pump mounting bolts and lift the pump from the vehicle and make a point of not spitting any fluid on painted locations. To install, position the pump in the mounting bracket and fasten the bolts and thereafter tighten it. Fix the hoses to the pump, and tighten the joints. Place the pulley on the shaft of the pump and use the special pulley installer tool to press it where it in fit against the end of the shaft. Put the drivebelt and then the power steering reservoir should be filled with the recommended fluid and bleeding should be done in a prescribed manner.
