Start by turning the front wheels forward to the straight position, lifting the automobile and putting it on jackstands. Disconnect the torsion bar cover plate from the frame of the vehicle. Ensure that no alterations have been made to the torsion bar and take a measurement of the extent that the torsion bar adjustment bolt has to travel on the adjustment nut so that this will be useful later. Screw the special tool onto the cross-member and the torsion bar adjuster to the specified torque and the latter must rise from the adjustment bolt.
