How to disconnect the battery and remove the knee bolster and steering column covers on Ford Fusion?

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the knee bolster retaining bolts and take out the knee bolster. Remove the bolts from the lower steering column cover, then press in on the sides of the upper cover and separate the two covers. To remove the upper column cover, use a trim removal tool to separate the instrument cluster trim panel, ensuring to carefully disengage it. Although the instrument cluster trim panel is considered a separate part, it is permanently connected to the upper steering column cover, so both must be removed together. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the knee bolster retaining bolts and take out the knee bolster. Remove the bolts from the lower steering column cover, then press in on the sides of the upper cover and separate the two covers. To remove the upper column cover, use a trim removal tool to separate the instrument cluster trim panel, ensuring to carefully disengage it. Although the instrument cluster trim panel is considered a separate part, it is permanently connected to the upper steering column cover, so both must be removed together. Installation is the reverse of removal.
