To have the steering column dismantled, also ensure that the wheels are aligned, and turn off the car by removing the cable of the negative terminal. Next, take the remove the
Steering Wheel and the steering column covers and if possible the tape the airbag clockspring to immovable so that it will not be able to rotate to avoid further damages. Next, you have to unbolt the steering column reinforcement panel and the clockspring; next, disconnect the multi-function switch connectors. Lose the bolts holding the cover at the firewall then you remove and bin the pinch bolt which had marked the orientation of the U-joint relative to intermediate shaft. After this, you have to take off the steering column mounting bolts, then turn the column down, and pull it back gently with no connection still attached. For release of the deployable steering column electrical connector retaining tabs, more specifically for 2013 and later models, one requires a small mirror and needle nose pliers. For installation, align the steering column and insert the U-joint with the bottom of the steering shaft and finally tighten the assigned fasteners of the steering column. Screw the exposed threads of the intermediate shaft U-joint onto the intermediate shaft, then provide and tighten a new intermediate shaft pinch bolt. The remaining part of the installation is as easy and in the reverse order to the removal.
