    Q: How to replace the accumulator/drier in an air conditioning system on Ford Expedition?
    A:
    The accumulator/drier stores refrigerant and removes moisture in the air conditioning system. It should be replaced when a major component is changed or if exposed to air. To remove it, have the system discharged at a dealer or AC shop, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and disconnect the compressor clutch cycling switch. Disconnect the refrigerant lines, cap them, and remove the accumulator/drier. If replacing, drain the old refrigerant oil and add the same amount plus two ounces to the new one. Install the new accumulator/drier, reconnect the lines, and secure the clamp bolt. Reconnect the electrical connector and battery terminal. Finally, have a professional evacuate, recharge, and test the system.
