Ford Bronco Brake Caliper Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to rebuild calipers?
A: Before starting an overhaul, consider all options including new and rebuilt calipers. If rebuilding, always do it in pairs and ensure a kit is available. A leaking caliper seal can be identified by a drop in the master cylinder level or brake fluid on the wheel. To rebuild, remove the calipers and Brake Pads, disconnect the caliper from the hose, and clean it. Use compressed air to remove the piston, then remove the dust boot and piston seal. Clean all parts and inspect for damage. If damaged, replace the caliper assembly. To reassemble, lubricate a new piston seal and install it, along with a new dust boot. Insert the piston into the bore, then reinstall the caliper and pads, bleed the brakes, and reinstall the wheel(s) and check the brakes before operating.
