    What is the role of the HVAC Pressure Switch in the air conditioning system on Lincoln MKX? Posted by Hayden V.
    A:
    The pressure cycling switch is located on top of the hard line from the condenser to the air conditioning thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). It detects low refrigerant line pressure and switches the A/C system off, then back on again to provide higher pressure. If the pressure increases too high, the pressure cut-off switch shuts the system off. Before proceeding, have the air conditioning system recovered by a dealer service department or automotive air conditioning shop. Unplug the electrical connector from the pressure cycling switch and unscrew it. Lubricate the switch O-ring with clean refrigerant oil and screw the new switch into place. Reconnect the electrical connector and have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
