    Prior to removing the piston/connecting rod assemblies, remove the cylinder head(s), the oil pan, and the oil pump (on 5.4L engines), remove steps depending on which engine is being overhauled. Additionally, on some models, there may be a sheet metal oil baffle plate attached with nuts to the main cap studs, which should also be removed.
