    Perform frequent oil changes to prevent engine wear. Gather tools and rags. Warm up the engine. Park on level ground. Remove oil filler cap. Lift vehicle if needed. Locate drain plug and filter. Place drain pan under plug. Remove plug and drain oil. Inspect for metal particles. Clean plug and reinstall securely. Position drain pan under filter. Loosen and remove filter. Clean mounting surface. Lubricate new filter and install. Lower vehicle. Add new oil. Check level. Start engine and check for leaks. Recheck oil level. Dispose of old oil responsibly.
