    How to check and adjust the bypass air valve (BPA-ISC) for idle speed control on Ford Crown Victoria? Posted by Customer

    The BPA-ISC valve controls idle speed by regulating idle control valve. Check the voltage signal from the PCM at 10.5 volts with ignition On. Clean the valve and housing if needed. Adjust idle speed for 5.0L engines by adjusting throttle plate screw. For 1988 models, raise engine speed to 1800 rpm before adjusting. For 1989-1992 models, adjust throttle plate stop screw with 0.010-inch feeler gauge. 4.6L engines require professional service. To remove the BPA-ISC valve, unplug connector, remove screws, inspect O-ring, clean surfaces, install new O-ring, tighten screws, and reconnect connector.
