    To adjust the idle speed for 5.0L engines, you need to start the engine, allow it to reach normal operating temperatures, and set the idle speed between 550 and 600 rpm by adjusting the throttle plate adjusting screw. For 1988 models, the engine speed is temporarily raised to 1800 rpm before adjusting. On 1989 through 1992 models, the throttle plate stop screw is adjusted with a 0.010-inch feeler gauge, followed by engine stabilization and idle adjustment through PCM and BPA-ISC valve.
