    Check the starter cranking voltage and the current draw from the battery while the starter assembly is on the engine. Crank the engine for 10 seconds or less and observe the battery voltage, which should not drop below 8.0 volts for manual transmission models or 8.5 volts for automatic transmission models. Also, observe the current draw using an ammeter, which should not exceed 400 amps or drop below 250 amps.
