Ford F4AZ-5310-A Front Spring

Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Raise the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Remove the wheels. On 1988 through 1991 models, disconnect the stabilizer bar from the link. Remove the shock absorber. Disconnect the center link from the Pitman arm. Use a suitable spring compressor, to relieve tension on the spring. Compress the spring. Remove the nuts and bolts securing the inner end of the lower control arm to the frame. Slowly lower the control arm. Remove the spring and compressor as a unit. Note the installation of the upper insulator between the upper end of the spring and the frame. If the spring is to be replaced, slowly loosen the spring compressor tool until all tension is removed, then remove the tool.

Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle. Before attempting to drive a vehicle equipped with air suspension, turn the air suspension switch to On, start the engine, and allow the compressor to inflate the air suspension springs (they deflate automatically when the rear of the vehicle is raised).
