This procedure only applies to models from 2002 and older. Coil spring removal and installation on 2003+ models are included with
Shock Absorber replacement. To remove the coil spring: loosen wheel lug nuts, raise and support the vehicle, remove the wheels, disconnect the stabilizer bar (on 1988-1991 models), remove the shock absorber, disconnect the center link from the Pitman arm, use a spring compressor to relieve tension, remove the bolts securing the lower
Control Arm to the frame, slowly lower the control arm, and remove the spring and compressor. If replacing the spring, loosen the compressor tool slowly to release tension. To install spring, place the upper insulator on it and secure it with tape, compress the spring with a compressor, position it on the lower control arm. Then, raise the control arm while aligning the inner end with bolt holes; install pivot bolts and loosely attach nuts, attach a center link to Pitman's arm. Attach the lower end of the shock absorber to control arm and attach the stabilizer bar (on 1988-1991 models).
