    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to remove and install the front axle shaft on a Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands placed under the frame. Block the rear wheels to keep the vehicle from rolling off the stands. Remove the front wheels. If equipped, remove the front skid plate. Remove the front driveshaft. Disconnect the front driveaxles from the axleshalt flanges. Support the driveaxles with wire or rope - don't let them hang by the outer CV joints. Remove the front crossmember. Support the front axle with a pair of floor jacks, then remove the upper, lower and axle tube mounting bolts. Lower the axle assembly and remove it from under the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten all fasteners securely.

    Q:
What are the final steps for rear driveaxle installation on the 2008 Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
Install a new driveaxle/hub nut, tighten it securely, and then install the parking brake cable, brake disc, and caliper. Have an assistant push the brake pedal and tighten the driveaxle/hub nut before reinstalling the wheel and lug nuts. Finally, lower the vehicle and perform a thorough inspection to ensure all components are properly secured and functioning. Check for any leaks around the driveaxle seals and verify that the parking brake engages correctly. Once confirmed, take the vehicle for a short test drive to ensure smooth operation and listen for any unusual noises. After the test drive, recheck the torque on the driveaxle/hub nut and lug nuts to ensure they are within specifications.
