First, it is important to check the condition of the CV joints before disassembling and inspecting the CV joints and CV Boot. If wear is indicated by torn boots, rebuilt drive axles should be considered. To continue with disassembly, remove the drive axle, cut off the boot clamps, and slide back the boot. Remove the wire ring ball retainer then the outer race and clean the inner bearing. Taking off the snap ring results in the sliding of the inner bearing assembly, which leads to an inspection of the race cage and inner race lands. Components should be cleaned thoroughly after this. After that reassemble the inner race into the cage by pressing balls into cage windows then reassemble the joint again Reinstall a new boot clamp then add a boot Fill the outer race with CV joint grease; pack the inner race and cage assembly with grease; slide outer race over inner race Lastly install CV Boot and clamps if required adjust drive axle length.

After sliding the boot back, remove the wire ring ball retainer and take off the outer race from the inner bearing assembly.

To replace the outer boot, remove the driveaxle from the vehicle, secure it in a vise, and cut the boot clamps from both inner and outer boots. Remove the inner CV joint and boot.
