    Q:
How to remove the crankshaft pulley and front Crankshaft Seal in V6 engine on Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the crankshaft pulley, 4.0L can be unbolted while using a bolt type puller while 3.7L can be removed using a 3- jaw puller. Start by removing the first connection of the battery before you can remove the drive belt and the engine cooling fan/shroud. Lift the car properly and support it on jack stands, you then can remove the mounting bolts of the power steering fluid cooler and set it apart and not take off the fluid lines. It is followed by the crankshaft pulley bolt's removal together with a centre bolt using a socket and a breaker bar, the centre bolt being thrown away and replaced by a new one. Cinch the pulley in an immovable position by using a strap or a chain wrench; putting a shop rag on the pullery before using the tool. To eliminate the pulley of your vehicle, you should utilize a puller and if an adapter is required in this case, you ought not to harm the crankshaft threads. Using a seal puller, to extract the crankshaft front oil seal and ensure not causing damage on the crankshaft or seal bore, after the pulley has been removed. Clean the seal bore gently and look for rough edges, etc, while inspecting the hub zone for fatigue or scoring, where a repair sleeve may be considered. To install, clean engine oil is applied on the lip of the new seal and driven into the bore with a socket or pipe slightly smaller in diameter than the seal with the open side facing inward the engine. Putting some clean engine oil to the sealing surface of the hub, then put the crankshaft pulley/damper through using the special installation tool and can't use hammer. Replace with a new center bolt and torque it to the needed level, others installing process would be done in a reverse order to the previous process.

    Q:
How to remove and install Crankshaft Pulley and front Crankshaft seal in V8 engine on Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
To eliminate the components one has to first unplug the wire from the negative terminal of the battery. These are simple to take off next so you remove the drive belt Also, you also take of the engine cooling fan and shroud assembly. Lift the vehicle till you find it resting comfortably on jackstands. Loosen and thereafter remove the crankshaft pulley center bolt using a breaker bar and socket, while a shop rag or material of the drivebelt should be placed around the pulley before tightening it using a strap or a chain wrench. Next, using a puller remove the pulley from the crankshaft, however, a bolt-type puller is applied to the 4.6L engine while a 3-jaw puller is used in the case of 5.0L engine. Subsequently, utilize a seal puller to pull out the crankshaft front oil seal with considerable caution so as not to harm either the crankshaft or the bore. Scrape off the metal from the seal bore and look for filing mark of gouges, and examine the hub area to remove it for high spot or scoring, if so use a repair sleeve. In installation spread some clean engine oil on the new seal and force it into the bore using a seal driver or a large socket just slightly smaller in diameter than the seal; the open side of the seal should be towards the engine. The contact surface of the oil seal on the crankshaft pulley hub shall be lubricated with multi-purpose grease or clean engine oil: only apply a drop of RTV sealant on the keyway slot of the crankshaft pulley before tightening it with a tool that is specifically designed for the purpose, do not use a hammer. Last, put back the center bolt and tighten it to the right torque as a way of ending more or less the same as the removal steps.
