To remove the front grille in early model 7.5L engines, you will have to disconnect the oil cooler lines at the filter adapter from beneath the vehicle; remove six oil cooler bolts and lift it out; and if necessary, remove the oil filter adapter and use a new O-ring when reinstalling it. To finish off, put the oil cooler on the radiator support, fasten six bolts, and connect again with oil lines coming to/from it. After checking they are tight enough, start your engine at least for a minute, check for any leakage, and then lower your car. In late-model 7.5L engines, you need to; drain the radiator or lower the radiator hose from the bottom of the radiator to the oil cooler connection point; disconnect the oil cooler to the water pump hose, and take off the oil cooler assembly. Prior to replacing it ensure that there is no leak between the body block and oil cooler. Align it with the water pump hose and tighten both bolts: one for the oil cooler adapter and another one going to the engine block itself. Finally, put in a fresh filter through a lower radiator hose, pour into some engine oil replenish the coolant system up to its full volume level, and search for any other possibility of leakage that might be present.

From beneath the vehicle, you should disconnect the oil cooler lines at the filter adapter, ensuring the use of a back-up wrench during disconnection.
