To replace the latch, one is required to start with the removal of the upper radiator cover by unscrewing the nuts. Drawing a line on the body around the latch is important especially when fixing it which must be done by unscrewing the latch retaining bolts on the radiator support then removing the latch. Release the cable hood latch and detach the hood release cable from the latch assembly. For installation, do the steps in reverse but you should ensure that the latch is set in such a way that when closed it locks on the hood and also compress the hood bumpers a little. To remove the cable first it has to be disconnected from the latch assembly. Using a piece of stiff wire relocate the cable through the car back to the firewall removing all the cable retaining clips. Inside the car, unlatch the driver side floor carpeting, then unscrew the two bolts that secure the release lever and you take out the hood release lever. Take the cable and the grommet into the passenger compartment so that the wire is seen, if the new cable has a grommet fitting then replace the damaged cable with the new one. Then from the engine side move the wire through the firewall while on installation, adjust the grommet from the passengers side so that it can be properly placed back in the firewall.
