    How can you inspect the upper Ball Joints, and what is the acceptable deflection reading for a healthy ball joint for the 2002 Ford Expedition? Posted by Ramsdell R.
    A:
    For upper ball joints, position a dial indicator against the wheel rim, grasp the top and bottom of the tire, and "rock" the tire by pushing the top and pulling the bottom, and vice versa. The dial indicator should indicate no more than 0.125-inch deflection. If the reading exceeds this figure, the upper ball joint is faulty and should be replaced.
