How to remove and install a distributor on Ford Bronco? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the distributor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, detach the coil secondary lead from the coil and the wires from the plugs, and remove the distributor cap from the distributor. Unplug the module electrical connector and remove any vacuum lines if present. Make marks on the distributor housing and base to ensure proper reinstallation. Remove the distributor bolt and clamp, and carefully pull the distributor straight up. To install the distributor, align the marks on the distributor and engine block or intake manifold, and position the rotor slightly ahead of its alignment mark. If the distributor doesn't seat completely, rotate the oil pump shaft and repeat the alignment process. If the crankshaft was turned or a new distributor is being installed, position the number one piston at TDC on the compression stroke. Temporarily install the distributor cap and mark the location of the number one spark plug wire. Perform the alignment process using the new reference mark(s). Finally, align the distributor marks, tighten the clamp bolt, install the distributor cap, reconnect any vacuum hoses, and connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery. Check the ignition timing and tighten the distributor clamp bolt securely.

How to remove and install Distributor on Ford Bronco II? Posted by Customer
    A:
Different model years of the TFI-IV Ignition system require different test procedures. For 1985-87 models, begin by turning the ignition switch off and disconnecting the coil wire; then, ground it. After that, put the negative lead of a volt/ohmmeter to the distributor base and disconnect the pin-in-line connector near it, attaching the positive lead of this device to its TFI module side. Once you turn on your ignition switch and bump starter to measure voltage levels with engine stationary (if lower-replace stator assembly), proceed as follows: for 1988 models do similar steps but adjust voltage thresholds-if highest reading exceeds 70% battery voltage or else replace stator assembly; if lowest value is greater than 0.5 volts inspect stator and TFI terminals; in 1989-90 models use special Rotunda tester tool for TFI modules, ensuring park position (AT) or neutral gear (MT) with wheels blocked-then proceed according to subsequent instructions. Removal / installation involves rotating engine to TDC position-disconnecting negative battery cable-carefully removing distributor assembly (making sure not rotate engine during removal). Installation includes aligning distributor correctly & checking initial timing before completing installation process.

How to remove and install a distributor on Ford Thunderbird? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the distributor, start by unplugging the primary electrical connector. Note the raised "1" on the distributor cap, which marks the terminal for the number 1 spark plug wire. Remove the distributor cap and, if you have a remote starter, follow the manufacturer's instructions to turn the engine over until the rotor is pointing towards the number 1 cylinder. If you don't have a remote starter, rotate the crankshaft until the rotor is pointing towards the number 1 plug wire terminal. Make a mark on the distributor base directly below the rotor tip and in line with it, as well as on the distributor base and the engine block for proper reinstallation. Remove the distributor hold down-bolt and clamp, then pull the distributor straight up to remove it. To install the distributor, insert it into the engine in the same relationship to the block as before. Check the alignment marks and rotor position, then turn the crankshaft in the normal direction of rotation to engage the gears. Seat the distributor against the block and align the marks made on the distributor base and the block. Install the hold-down clamp, distributor cap, and module electrical connector. Reattach the spark plug wires and connect the battery cable. Finally, check the ignition timing and tighten the distributor hold-down bolt securely.

How to remove and install a distributor on Mercury Grand Marquis? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the distributor, start by unplugging the primary lead from the coil and the electrical connector for the module. Then, remove the distributor cap and locate the raised "1" on the cap, which marks the position of the number one cylinder spark plug wire terminal. Turn the engine over until the rotor is pointing towards the number one spark plug terminal and make a mark on the distributor base below the rotor tip. Remove the distributor hold-down bolt and clamp, and carefully pull the distributor straight up. To install the distributor, insert it back into the engine in the same position it was in before removal, ensuring that the alignment marks on the distributor base and block match.
