If a fuel filter is located in-line between the carburetor and the fuel pump, it is usually connected with rubber hoses.

For a 2.3L engine frame-mounted inline fuel filter, pinch off the fuel hose to the rear of the inline filter using a rubber-coated clamp or other suitable device to prevent fuel from siphoning from the tank. Remove the two hose clamps closest to the inline filter, then carefully disconnect the fuel lines from the filter. Carefully push each hose onto the filter until it's seated against the collar on the fitting, then install the clips securely.

The fuel system pressure must be relieved before removing the fuel filter.

If necessary, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands with the front end slightly higher than the rear.

Carefully connect each fuel line to the filter.

On fuel-injected models with push connect fittings, you need to remove the safety clip, twist the fitting to break the seal, use a special fuel line disconnect tool to release the fitting, and pull the fuel line from the filter.
