Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Detach the fresh air inlet tube from the mouth of the air filter box assembly snorkel. Clearly label and detach all vacuum hoses, lines and electrical connectors as necessary from the air filter box assembly. Remove the wing nut and grommet (if equipped) from the air filter box and remove the cover. Remove the air filter element. Inspect it for signs of dust or dirt leaking through holes in the filter material or past the end seals. Lift the air filter box assembly off. Installation is the reverse of removal. EFI and SEFI equipped models: Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the air outlet tube from the air filter assembly. Unclip the upper half of the air filter box assembly and remove it. Remove the air filter element. Remove the air filter box assembly mounting nuts and detach the assembly. If you wish to remove or replace the resonator (which is located on the other side of the fender apron), simply remove the mounting nuts and detach it. Installation is the reverse of removal. V8 engine: Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the air outlet tube from the air filter assembly. Unclip the upper half of the air filter box assembly and remove it. Remove the air filter element. Remove the air filter box assembly mounting nuts and detach the assembly. If you wish to remove or replace the resonator (which is located on the other side of the fender apron), simply remove the mounting nuts and detach it. Installation is the reverse of removal. Four-cylinder engine: Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the wing nut from the air filter box cover. Remove the air filter cover and the filter element. Remove the air filter box assembly mounting screws from the floor of the assembly. Slightly raise the box assembly, loosen the hose clamp and remove the air filter outlet tube which connects to the vane air meter (electronic air control sensor). Remove the air filter box assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
