    Q:
How to replace the Front Door Handle, Door Latch Assembly and Door Lock Cylinder on Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the outside door handle lever, begin by removing the trim cap for the outside handle retaining screw and loosening the screw without removing it. Next, take off the cover from the outside handle and pull the handle out and to the rear to disengage it from the handle reinforcement inside the door. Inspect the outside door handle seals and replace them if they are cracked or deteriorated. For the inside door handle, remove the door trim panel, disengage the handle from the regulator module, and disconnect the actuator by prying out the bushing, aligning the cable with the slot in the handle lever to pull out the cable end plug. For the outside door handle reinforcement, first remove the outside door handle lever, then the door trim panel and the power window regulator. Disengage the upper and lower actuating rods, disconnect the keyless entry pad harness retaining clip, and remove the handle reinforcement. When dealing with the door lock cylinder, note that a new cylinder cannot be simply installed; instead, discard the old one and build a new unit using a lock repair package from the dealer. Remove the outside door handle, disengage the release tab, and install the rebuilt lock cylinder by aligning the D-slot. For the liftgate latch, remove the trim panel, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the latch bolts. The installation process is the reverse of removal, followed by de-initialization/initialization procedures. For power release switch models, remove the liftgate trim panel, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the switch molding screws to take out the switch. For manual release switch models, remove the trim panel, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the switch molding nuts before taking out the switch. For the keyless entry pad on 2014 and earlier models, remove the upper trim cap, release the clip holding the keypad, and disconnect the electrical connector. For 2015 and later models, the keyless entry pad is integrated into the door upper trim panel; remove the exterior mirror, lower the window, and take off the door panel and moulding fasteners. Disconnect the key pad entry electrical connector and remove the door upper trim panel fasteners, pulling the harness out through the window opening. The installation process is the reverse of removal for all components.

    Q:
How to remove and install door handles,Door Lock Actuator Motor and Door Lock Cylinder on Ford Focus? Posted by Customer
    A:
To unlock the exterior handle on the front side, there is a need to first remove the door inner trim panel, then there is a side impact bolster that should be turned anticlockwise to unlodge the clips and then removal of the clips in the door panel. Take out all the screws of the speaker and dismantle the wiring. Pull the inner door release handle out clipped and withdrawn and you will only have the door handle on the cable. To open the weather shield use the knife or scraper to make an incision through the butyl strip so that you can pull the weather shield away without compromising on its integrity. To take out the outer lock cylinder bezel you have to unfasten 'T', the channel of which is installed in inside door handle, and it is possible to remove a small plug to have access to it. Slacken the screw for the outside handle but do not take it out then move the handle backward and pull it out and detach the door handle grommets. The procedure is almost similar to that of the rear exterior handle; the first step is to unscrew the window runner guide, then pull out the grommet from the access hole, similar to the previous case; the retaining screw of the outer door handle bezel is also to be loosened to remove it. Do the same for the exterior handle and un-hook the seals. For the interior handle here are some brief steps; you will first have to undo the door inner trim panel, then have to disconnect the door release handle, set the lever switch to the locked position, and then unclip the outer cable before releasing the inner operating cable. To reach the lock motor/module at the front you need to take off the exterior handles, cut the connective wire, and use a manager to untwist the Torx bolt of the lock. Pull off the door lock/handle reinforcement bracket by unclipping the assembly and take it out of the vehicle; likewise, retract the trim on the security shield, and take out the screws. Unlock the mode of adjustment by pulling up the locking clip on the remote control rod, and then, check the length of the thread, open the connecting rod, and releases the outer cable before rotating the inner cable in order to take it off. For the lock cylinder put a little force to pry the retaining tab, then insert the key and pull out the lock cylinder. The process is similar to the above, but the measurements here should be taken of the thread of the rear lock motor/module; step by step: remove the exterior handle, unscrew the Torx bolts, unclip the reinforcement bracket, unplug the wiring, remove the connecting rod/adjusting clip. The location of the striker/contact switch should be marked and the mounting screws as well as the wiring should be detached. For the check strap, therefore, one needs to unscrew the mounting bolt, remove the rubber grommet and take out the check strap. The process of removal is the opposite to the installation: all the parts should be properly aligned and placed back, in particular, the outer cable and the striker.

    Q:
How to replace the Door Handle, Door Latch Assembly and Door Lock Cylinder on the Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the outside door handle lever on 2012 and earlier models firstly, remove the trim cap to the outside handle retaining screw; on the 2006 to 2009 models, take out the screw but for the 2010 model, this screw must only be loosened. After that, remove the cover of the outside handle and pull the handle down and backward to free it from the handle reinforcement provided on the inside of the door. Check the outside door handle gaskets and, if they are cracked or perished, fit new ones and reverse the process. For the models produced after 2013, there will be a cap over the door handle screw; pull this trim cap to release the door handle screw; hold the door handle as if opening the door; rotate the release screw eight full turns before pulling up the rear part of the door handle assembly. If equipped with push button starting, remove the electrical connection from the door handle assembly and reinstall in the reverse manner. The handle of the inside door can be undoing the door trim panel and taking off the retaining bolt or bolts and the actuator Cable of the handle. To reinforce the door latch or outside door handle, you may have to disconnect the outside door handle lever, the door trim panel, the power window regulator and the anti theft guard bolts and the guard. Disengage the outside door handle reinforcement retaining bolt and latch mounting screws, withdraw the latch , outside door handle reinforcement along with it as a single unit, disconnect any linking electrical pins and actuation wires. On 2006 to 2009 models, then, when you are setting the lock cylinder, it should click to engage after you have first voided the door latch and outside door handle reinforcement and then pressed the release button. For 2010 to 2012 models, do not think that merely replacing the door lock cylinder will work as it means building a new unit with a lock repair package from the dealers. Last but not the least; for the 2013 and later models, take out the outside door handle, then open the door handle cover and then unlock the door lock before reassembling in the contrary manner.

    Q:
How to replace the Door Handle, Door Latch Assembly and Door Lock Cylinder on the Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the outside door handle lever the following are the procedures, Removing the trim cap for the outside handle retaining screw and turning the screw counterclockwise until it loosens but does not come out. Secondly, remove the cover of the outside handle and sliding it to the rear, pulling the handle off the handle reinforcement apparatus fit in the door. Slider-check and, if necessary, replace the outer door handle seals as these may be cracked or in very poor condition. For the inside door handle, you have to pull off the trim panel, then you pop out the handle from the door panel, line up the actuator cable along the slot in the handle lever, then you pull the end plug of the cable out before you pry out the actuator bushing. Installation process is the exact opposite to this process. To gain access to the door latch and outside door handle reinforcement the outside door handle lever, door trim-panel, upper and lower actuating rod as well as the keyless entry pad harness if installed must be removed. Disengage the reinforcement mounting fastener, and rotate the assembly inward to be extracted from the interior of the door, then disengage the latch mounting fasteners and extract the latch, as well as the outside door handle reinforcement as a single piece while disconnecting the electrical connection. Door lock cylinder refer to the fact that it cannot be replaced by a new cylinder, the old cylinder has to be chucked and a new unit has to be made from a lock repair package to be obtained from the dealer. To dismantle the lock cylinder further, one has to pull a ring by which it will be possible to extract it from the handle outside door; in assembling, one has to remember that the D-shaped opening in the new lock cylinder, which has to be put in place of the old one, must fit in the D-shaped opening in the lock cylinder lever. Finally, to take out the keyless entry pad the upper trim cap has to be removed then, using a screwdriver the clip that holds the key pad on the reinforcement handle can be released and thus the key pad pulled out and the electrical connector disconnected and the real reverse order is the process of installation.
