Install them in their original locations.

Lubricate the camshaft bearing journals and cam lobes with engine assembly lube.Slide the camshaft into the engine, supporting it near the block to avoid scraping or nicking the bearings.Coat both sides of the thrust plate with engine assembly lube, then install it so it covers the main oil gallery. Tighten the bolts to the torque.

Slide the camshaft into position, being careful not to scrape or nick the bearings.

Visually examine the camshaft lobes for score marks, pitting, galling, and evidence of overheating. Look for flaking away of the hardened surface layer of each lobe. Replace the component if any such signs are evident.

Install the hydraulic valve lifters in their original bores if the original lifters are being used, ensuring they are coated with engine assembly lube.

To check the thrust plate for wear, install the camshaft in the cylinder head and position the thrust plate at the rear. Use a dial indicator to check the total endplay by prying the camshaft carefully back-and-forth. If the endplay is outside the limit, replace the thrust plate with a new one.

Coat the hydraulic lash adjusters with engine assembly lube or moly-base grease, then install them in their original locations.

The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to install the camshaft position sensor on models that have one.
