For an engine overhaul, it is recommended to replace the main and connecting rod bearings with new ones. Addressing the cause of bearing failure is essential before assembling the engine to prevent its recurrence. When inspecting bearings, take them off from the engine block, main bearing caps, connecting rods and rod caps, arranging them in a corresponding position. The foreign materials can be embedded into the bearing material causing damage to it. Lack of lubrication which arises from causes like excessive heat, overload, oil leakage or blockage of oil passages may lead to material breakdown of bearings.
