To examine disc brakes, loosen the lug nuts, lift the vehicle, remove the wheel and
Brake Caliper without disconnecting the hose, hang the caliper with a wire, reinstall lug nuts so that they hold disc against hub, look at disc surface visually for damage, have deep score marks fixed at machine shop, measure runout using a dial indicator and then resurface discs regardless of reading, deglaze brake pad surface, measure disc thickness by micrometer. Use these marks to align the disc with its hub. Remove rivets if necessary. Install disc onto the hub. Install the caliper and brake pad assembly back in place again. Secure to the steering knuckle or torque plate. Tighten caliper bolts. Lower vehicle down. Press on the brake pedal to engage the pads with the rotor in place of pushing it against them.
