Lincoln Mark VII Turn Signal Switch

Lincoln Mark VII Turn Signal Switch serves as the key control that lets drivers clearly announce lane changes or turns, boosting safety in traffic. Mounted on the steering column, this Turn Signal Switch operates a lever that sends electrical signals to the indicator lamps, and the same stalk often carries secondary dials for headlights, wipers, fog lamps, and cruise functions, keeping all lighting commands within reach for Lincoln enthusiasts. Through the Mark VII production years, two practical styles appeared, an early basic Turn Signal Switch that focused solely on blinkers and hazard flash. A later multifunction design that folded in lighting and cruise controls, the main difference being the added circuitry and integrated knobs of the upgraded version across the Mark VII range. Regardless of style, each Lincoln Turn Signal Switch unit uses a durable internal contact assembly to complete circuits when the lever clicks into place, and a self canceling cam resets the Turn Signal Switch after the wheel straightens, guaranteeing that every Mark VII driver signals intentions clearly while preserving component life throughout the Lincoln lineup.

Lincoln Mark VII Turn Signal Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install Turn Signal Switch on a Lincoln Mark VII?
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For 1989 and earlier models, grasp the switch lever securely and remove it by pulling straight out. Remove the steering column covers. Remove the switch cover, then disconnect the connector, remove the retaining screws and withdraw the Turn Signal Switch assembly from the steering column. Place the switch in position and install the screws, then connect the electrical connector. Install the steering column covers. Line up the tangs on the lever with the slot in the switch and install it by pushing straight in. For 1990 and later models, remove the steering column covers. On most models, the Ignition Lock Cylinder must be removed first, and on models with tilt-column steering, the tilt lever must also be removed before removing the covers. Remove the two retaining screws, pull the switch out, disconnect the connector and detach the Turn Signal Switch assembly from the steering column. Connect the electrical connector, insert the switch into the steering column and install the screws. Install the steering column covers, lock cylinder and tilt lever if equipped. For all models, connect the cable to the negative battery terminal.
