Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. On 2010 and later models, remove the knee bolster. Remove the bolts from the lower steering column cover and press in on the sides of the upper cover to separate the two covers. For later models, lower the steering column and disengage the column boot from the upper cover by releasing the boot tabs. To remove the upper column cover, use a trim removal tool to separate it from the instrument cluster trim panel. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that on later models, the rubber column boot tabs are pushed into the steering column cover first to prevent damage when the shift lever is moved.
