The canister purge valve on 2007 and earlier models with a 3.0L V6 engine is located tightly on a bracket near the power steering fluid tank. Start with the removal of the cable that is attached on the negative terminal of the battery, next is the removal of the electrical connector from the canister purge valve. Then, the EVAP line quick-connect fittings have to be disconnected, the purge valve mounting fasteners to be removed and the assembly has to be taken out, installation being the reverse of the procedure mentioned above; if for V6 engines, the installation of the purge valve needs a new O-ring. The EVAP canister can be located under the car near the rear part of the car. Pull out the cable from the negative battery terminal; then support the vehicle on jackstands, and unscrew the splash shield, if it is installed. Remove the electrical connector and the vapor hose of the canister vent solenoid dust separator and the two EVAP line quick-connect fittings of the canister. The procedure for removing is the same for its installation, namely-unlatch the canister mounting fasteners and pull the canister out, and the installation is done by reversing the above process. The EVAP canister vent solenoid is located on the EVAP canister, while on the engines 3.0L engines a vent tube to vent solenoid assembly is required to be detached. Exit the canister by pulling on the hook on top of the vent solenoid and releasing two lock tabs to take off the vent solenoid heat shield, unlock the fuel vapor hose from the vent solenoid and then removing the vent solenoid and dust separator assembly from the canister by pulling straight upward on the hook, and the reverse order for reassembly.
