To moisten the transmission, jack up the vehicle and secure on jack stands and then, then remove the transmission. In case of a leakage, the front pump seal/O-ring for automatic transmission must be replaced at this station. For cars with manual transmission: Remove the pressure plate and clutch disc: usually one should inspect or actually replace the clutch components and the pilot bearing. It is recommended to put alignment marks on the flywheel/driveplate and crankshaft with a center punch or paint , so you will be able to set the components correctly in their places. In the process take out the bolts holding the flywheel/driveplate to the crankshaft and if the latter rotates freely, use screw to block free rotation of the flywheel. Remove the flywheel/driveplate as gently as possible, helping it as you remove the final bolt, also the ring gear teeth are sharp and should be handled with gloves. Also when using an automatic transmission note that a spacer lies in between the crankshaft and the driveplate. Scrape off the grease and oil on the flywheel and check for cracks in the casting; at the rivet grooves, burned areas as well as score marks; light scoring can be eradicated by emery cloth. Make sure that the ring gear teeth are intact and that there isn't any crack or breakage in the gear while also making sure that the flywheel is flat and not warped. The contact faces of the flywheel/driveplate and crankshaft should be clean and inspected, the crankshaft rear seal should be replaced if it is worn or leaking before reassembly. The flywheel/driveplate must be positioned in front of the crankshaft with outlines made on it before, and use thread locking on the bolt of the flywheel. To avoid the flywheel/driveplate turning while tightening the bolts apply a screw driver, tighten the bolts to the correct torque within the specified torque sequence and in a gradual manner, increase the torque in three to four instances. The remaining steps of installation are the processes in the removal process albeit in the opposite direction.
