Remove the fuel tank filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure, then relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and disconnect the electrical connector and fuel supply line quick-connect fitting from the
Fuel Pump module. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the fuel filler neck hose and EVAP system breather hose from the tank. Remove the exhaust pipe and then remove the fuel line shields and fuel tank heat shield fasteners before taking off the shields. For AWD models, remove the driveshaft. Support the fuel tank securely, then remove the fuel tank retaining strap bolts, take off the straps, and carefully lower the fuel tank. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the fuel tank strap bolts are tightened securely. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, then start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
