Engine mounts are practically indestructible and rarely fail; if they do it is a must to replace them before the mount or other driveline components are damaged. During the check, the utilisation of the engine should make the extent that it strains the mounts and its weight should be lifted slightly. Loosen the car from the ground and safely sup ported with jack stands, place a jack under the front engine
Oil Pan and put a large piece of wood between the jack head and engine oil pan to avoid denting. Lift the engine gently to only a level that will unload the weight from the mounts. You should check the mounts for signs of cracks, hardened rubber, or if the in the middle the bushing is coming off the mount. Insert a large screwdriver or prybar between the mount and the engine or chassis and attempt to shift either component in either direction. If movement is detected, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners as indicated in paragraph 3e . To remove the mounts loosen the cable of the negative terminal of the battery and then if not done already raise and support the car on jackstands. Put a floor jack on the engine and insert a wooden plank between the jacket head and the oil pan and lift the engine slightly to take some pressure off the mounts. Take out the bolts and screws to disengage the mount, from the frame and engine; suspend the engine mount upper bracket off the engine mount. Process of Installation is just the opposite of removal, thread locking compound is applied on the mount bolts and must be well tightened.
